In early 2022, Virtua Health and Rowan University announced an affiliation agreement to create a new academic health system, further distinguishing South Jersey as a regional hub for innovation, research and clinical discovery.

As part of the Virtua Health College of Medicine & Life Sciences of Rowan University, Rowan-Virtua SOM continues preparing future physicians and scientists committed to improving health in New Jersey and throughout the nation. Their mission focuses primarily on readying students to meet future healthcare workforce needs; advancing research, innovation and discovery; and providing exceptional patient-centered care that responds to the needs of the community, including underserved and special needs populations.
