Honoring Richard Jones
Richard Jones joined Rowan University in August 2008 as the associate vice president of Residential Learning & Dean of Students and later served as the vice president for Student Life and Dean of Students. At the time of his passing, he was the vice president for Student Engagement.
Mr. Jones was passionate about many things: student life, social justice, education, campus engagement and more. But what he cared for most were students -- each one as an individual. It was to them that he dedicated his life: meeting and mentoring students, ensuring their Rowan experience was the best it could be, and extending that trajectory beyond their academic careers.
Mr. Jones was a significant part of the Rowan experience during his too-short time at the University, and that legacy will live on through the thousands of students he impacted as a mentor, teacher, leader, advocate, impetus, and, most importantly, friend.
It is our hope to extend his influence in perpetuity through the Richard L. Jones Educational Enrichment Scholarship which will benefit students from underrepresented groups in the ASCEND and Project IMPACT programs.
Give now in honor of Mr. Jones and in honor of our dedicated students.
